On staff at Ascend Orthopaedics is Dr. Amun Makani, MD, MBA, FAAOS. Dr. Makani is a double board certified Orthopedic surgeon and orthopedic sports medicine specialist. Dr. Makani is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Makani specializes in advanced orthopedic and sports medicine care, treating conditions such as complex knee injuries, rotator cuff tears, and arthritis of major joints.

In addition to traditional orthopedic treatments, he offers innovative therapies including stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to help patients recover and return to their activities faster.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.

Dr. Makani completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and a sports medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He has also served as a team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and New England Revolution.
