Spine Alignment

When your spine is aligned properly, your body maintains a relatively straight line from your head down to your shoulders and back, as well as your hips, knees, and feet. Having proper alignment goes beyond maintaining a good posture — it can also help prevent long-term pain.

You may not realize that your spine is misaligned. To check it our, you could look in the mirror, or ask a friend to take a look. Is everything level? See if your shoulders, hips, knees and ankles all leverl or if one side dipping.

Is one leg appear to be longer than the other? If one of your legs extends longer the the other, that could be because your spine is out of alignment.

Do you have trouble moving your neck from side to side? How about when you are looking in the real view mirror in your car? Do you have to turn around to see? This could be another red flag.

Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine.

Chiropractors treatment consists of a spinal manipulation, sometimes referred to as a chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of a spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by applying a controlled force into the joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement and possibly pinching a nerve – as a result of a tissue injury or poor posture/ergonomics.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a safe, minimally-invasive, and drug-free treatment that involves inserting sterile, disposable needles in specific points on the body.

We can also perform acustimulation, which amplifies the effects of acupuncture by connecting the needles to an electrical stimulation device. This allows for deeper stimulation of acupuncture points. It feels similar to the electrical stimulation used in a TENS unit; it is just as safe, but more specific to the area being treated.

Finally, we can perform dry needling, where the needles are inserted directly into trigger points. The needles are then manipulated to release scar tissue at the trigger point.

There are many tremendous benefits to receiving acupuncture or dry needling, such as pain relief, decreased inflammation, increased range of motion, decreased muscle tightness or spasms, better flexibility and mobility, improved sleep quality, relaxation, stress relief, and increased ability to perform activities of daily living.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of treatment in Ancient Chinese Medicine that dates back over 2,000 years ago. It is a safe, minimally-invasive, and a drug-free treatment that involves inserting sterile, disposable needles in specific points in the body to achieve desired results. After needles are safely inserted, they are left in for 15-20 min to allow stimulation to that area.

In Ancient Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture aims to restore vital energy in the body known as Qi (chee). In western medicine, it is used to stimulate specific points in the body and attract blood flow to that area to promote healing.
