Auto Accidents

Treatment of the Month

auto accident

This month we are highlighting our AUTO ACCIDENT TREATMENTS. For people who have been in a car accident, we take a multi-specialty approach which involves physical therapy, chiropractic, and medical care to produce outstanding results. We have helped many whip-lash injuries resulting from car accidents including people suffering from muscle spasms, headaches, neck pain, back pain, compression fractures, and even herniated discs.

We can provide an exam and evaluate possible problems, prescribe imaging such as MRIs, prescribe medications, perform fluoroscope-guided and ultrasound-guided injections, and give conservative care like chiropractic and physical therapy. We also specialize in providing non-surgical treatments to help eliminate pain.

Our car accident program is covered with auto insurance so even people who don’t have regular health insurance can receive treatments.

Most medical offices won’t accept or see people who have been involved in auto accidents because of insurance reasons, but we are happy to help. If you or a family member has any questions with regard to a motor vehicle accident, please do not hesitate to ask one of our doctors. We offer a FREE Consultation which provides a great opportunity to receive a complimentary assessment and get your questions answered.

Community Outreach

Advanced Medical of Florida is committed to supporting the community. For this month’s community outreach service project we went to Shepherd’s Village. Shepherd’s Village is a wonderful non-profit organization that focuses on helping single parents in need. They provide safe housing, mentorship, education, and many other resources to help moms who have fallen on hard times due to death, divorce, abuse, or other unexpected circumstances that have led them to being single mothers.

The organization is run by former single mothers who have persevered through the challenging times of raising little ones and are now thriving in their adult lives. The goal of the organization is to better support single mothers so they and their children have the best chance for success.

At AMF, we have a culture of personal development and growth, so when we found out about Shepherd’s Village from our patient who volunteers there, we knew this was a great organization for us to get involved with. Our idea was to purchase and donate new books for the community of moms there. We chose “Failing Forward” by John Maxwell because this book talks about challenges that arise in life and how to overcome them, learn from them, and move forward.

What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine.

Chiropractors treatment consists of a spinal manipulation, sometimes referred to as a chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of a spinal manipulation is to restore joint mobility by applying a controlled force into the joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement and possibly pinching a nerve – as a result of a tissue injury or poor posture/ergonomics.

Advanced Medical of Florida now has two chiropractors on staff. They treat problems like car accident injuries, neck or back pain, headaches, migraines, pinched nerves and sciatica.

What is an MRI?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses powerful magnets, radio waves, and a computer to make detailed pictures of the inside of your body.

MRI machine

Your doctor can use this test to diagnose you or to see how well you’ve responded to treatment. Unlike X-rays and computed tomography (CT) scans, MRIs don’t use the damaging ionizing radiation of X-rays.

MRI Uses
An MRI helps a doctor diagnose a disease or injury, and it can monitor how well you’re doing with a treatment. MRIs can be done on different parts of your body. It’s especially useful for looking at soft tissues and the nervous system.

An MRI of the brain and spinal cord can help find many things, including:

  • Blood vessel damage
  • Brain injury
  • Cancer
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Stroke
  • Eye problems
  • Inner ear problems

When you are treated at Advanced Medical of Florida, we will determine whether it is recommended that you have X-rays or an MRI. Sometimes it is recommended and some times it’s not. If it is recommended, we will help you make arrangements to get it done, and then will use the information in your treatment plan.

Balance and Gait Program

Did you know the #1 cause of death for people aged 65 and older is falls?Smiling senior man with female healthcare worker. Home carer supporting old man to stand up from the chair at care home.

Injuries such as fractures may result which can lead to hospitalizations where pneumonia or blood clots can occur creating a downward spiral for this patient population.

Gait and balance disorders are among the most common causes of falls in older adults and often lead to injury, disability, loss of independence, and limited quality of life. We love helping people walk better, reduce their fall risk, and improve their quality of life.

We are a multi-specialty group with different providers such as our Doctors of Physical Therapy who specialize in treatments for gait and balance problems.

Our unique Balance & Gait Program has helped many people and gives you an opportunity to be evaluated for any abnormalities in your walking patterns. We can assess if you need an assistive device such a cane or a walker; if you already have one, then we can help by appropriately sizing it to be the perfect fit for you.

This program can help a wide range of people from geriatrics to athletes. We can work on fall prevention for the geriatric population and even perform running analysis utilizing videos for the athletic population.

Feel free to call us today if you would like a no-charge consultation to assess your balance or gait. We are happy to help anyway that we can!
